The City of Spring Hill's Wastewater Treatment Plant was constructed in 2001.
There are two treatment facilities:
0.13-MGD (million gallons per day) four-cell lagoons;
1.25 MGD Schreiber GR extended aeration activated sludge plant.
The City's wastewater employees are responsible for the treatment plant operations and the maintenance and repair of the collection system. The collection system consists of 52 miles of combined gravity and force main sewer lines and eight lift stations. The lift stations are monitored through the use of a telemetry computer system that allows the City crew to remotely monitor the operations of the lift stations and wastewater flow levels at all times. Wastewater samples are taken consistantly throughout the month to determine treatment process efficiencies and to ensure the City meets State and Federal regulatory compliance guidelines. The City crew uses a line-cleaning-high-pressure "jetter" truck which scours the sewer lines removing grease and debris that accumlate over time. These operations are conducted as needed throughout the year.
