City AdministrationSpring Hill is a council/city administrator form of government. The mayor is elected for a four-year term. This elected official presides at city council meetings, but does not vote except to break a tie. The mayor appoints city officials, with the consent of the council, and has the veto power over legislation. Mayoral vetoes may be overridden by a vote of the council provided at least four of the five council members support the override. Council members are elected at large for a four-year term. The mayor and the city council combine to form the city's governing body. They are responsible for setting the city's policies and guiding the city's spending. The city's daily operations are overseen by the city's staff. The Governing Body meets at 7:00 p.m. every second and fourth Thursday of the month. The public is welcome to attend. Council Chambers are located in Room 15 of the Spring Hill Civic Center, 401 North Madison. Spring Hill Municipal Court is held at 8:30a.m. on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Court is held in Room 15 of the Spring Hill Civic Center, 401 North Madison. The City of Spring Hill currently has 32 full-time employees including a ten-member police department, a twelve-member public works department, a four-member community development department and six administrative employees. The City also has three part-time employees and numerous seasonal employees. |
